China opposes proliferation of mass destruction weapons: Foreign Ministry
font size

"China is resolutely opposed to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction," said Jiang Yu, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman on Thursday.

Jiang made the comment when asked to respond to recent speculation that China was considering joining the Proliferation Security Initiatives (PSI), a U.S.-led counter-proliferation initiative proposed by U.S. President George W. Bush in 2003.

"We advocate the strengthening of international cooperation to solve the proliferation issue through political and diplomatic means," she told a regular press conference.
