The Air Force of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) launched its annual recruitment of military pilots early this month, aiming to enrol more than 1,000 student cadets.

The air force has extended the recruitment process to 29 provinces, regions and municipalities from the previous 16, according to Colonel Sui Guosheng, director of the air force's Pilot Cadet Enrolment Work Bureau.

The selection process, which is due to be completed in July next year, is open to graduates of more than 7,000 senior middle schools, and also to second-year science and engineering students in 200 civilian universities, and graduates of 200 civilian and 48 military universities nationwide.

Applicants will be required to pass physical and psychological tests.

Upon graduation, they will receive a bachelor's degree in military science, Sui said.
