The Nigerian government has secured a 3.9 billion naira (about 30 million U.S. dollars) credit facility to boost entrepreneurial activities among women, the official News Agency of Nigeria reported on Friday.
Nigeria's Women Affairs Minister Maryam Ciroma said the money, coming from the New York-based International Finance Corporation (IFC), would be devoted to those managing small-scale businesses.
She said the federal government had equally allocated a 3.85 million dollars credit facility to women farmers for the same purpose.
"We are aware of some difficulties being faced by women farmers in the states in accessing the agricultural loans, but some arrangements are being put in place to alleviate such burden," she said.
Lack of loans has long been a big hindrance for Nigerian people, especially women, to start their careers.
