Pakistan and Britain will ink a Development Partnership Agreement (DPA) during the visit of British Prime Minister Tony Blair to Pakistan, beginning later Saturday, officials said.
As per the agreement, The United Kingdom (UK) would enhance its development assistance to Pakistan from 236 million British pounds (or 446 million U.S. dollars) to 480 million British pounds (or 907 million U.S. dollars), a statement of Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.
"This amount would be disbursed in the next three years," the statement said.
"British Prime Minister's visit would provide a significant boost to the sustainability of the momentum generated over the last few months," it added.
Blair's visit is for the third round of Bilateral Summit Consultations as agreed in the Joint Statement titled "Partnership for Peace and Prosperity" issued during Pakistani president's visit to London in December 2004.
In addition to his meeting with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, Blair will have an interaction with the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
Blair's meetings are scheduled for Sunday, according to the British High Commission.
"The visit signifies the growing partnership between Pakistan and UK and the frequency of contacts at the highest level," the Foreign Ministry said.
