font size

Over 600 Zimbabweans were deported on Saturday for illegally staying in Zambia, Zambian immigration official said.

The Zimbabweans, mostly women, were in Lusaka on Saturday. They got on buses which will leave them at Sieving at the border between the two countries, Immigration Department spokesperson Malabo Magneto said.

The deportation came after a night operation. The Zimbabweans have in the recent past flooded the streets of Lusaka selling sweets, chocolates, peanut butter, biscuits, Mazoe drinks and duvets. Some of them engaged themselves into illegal business deals, Magneto said.
