As at 5:31 PM on November 18, Shanghai Bao Steel Group had manufactured a total of 15 million tons worth of outer-body panels for vehicles, enough to equip 20 million cars, according to People's Daily on Sunday.

The production capacity of the company is expected to reach 2.6 million tons, representing fifty percent of the domestic production capacity. The company's factories can produce over 200 types of panel.

Bao Steel has provided the paneling for half the cars currently on the road in China.

Bao Steel is China's first steel company. Sales of its cold rolled outer-body panels for vehicles account for more than fifty percent of this type of product on the domestic market.

The company has also become more competitive internationally with its products now exported and sold to car manufacturers such as Fiat, Ford (Europe) and GM.
