Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in New Delhi Monday for a state visit to further promote relations between the two most populous nations in the world.
This is the first state visit to India by a Chinese head of state in the past 10 years.
In New Delhi, the Chinese president will meet Indian leaders to exchange views on expansion of cooperation between the two neighbors.
The Sino-Indian relationship has entered a new phase with the two countries forging a strategic cooperative partnership last year.
Both countries have held a series of activities to enhance bilateral ties, including the Year of Friendship celebrations in 2006.
India is the third leg of Hu's current four-nation Asia tour, which will also take him to Pakistan. President Hu has paid visits to Vietnam and Laos.
