Hong Kong CE visits SW China province seeking economic cooperation

A 150-member Hong Kong delegation headed by its Chief Executive Donald Tsang arrived in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou, on Tuesday, seeking opportunities for economic cooperation with the Southwest China province.

During their three-day visit, the delegation, chiefly composed of officials and Hong Kong business leaders, will visit many industries in Guizhou and pay special heeds to the development of tourism and traditional Chinese medicine resources in the province, the local government source said.

It was Tsang's third visit to the Pan-Pearl River region, which groups Hong Kong, Macao, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan, since he assumed the office of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive in 2005.

He will also take part in the Hong Kong-Guizhou Business Co-operation Symposium and the Hong Kong-Guizhou Tourism Seminar during his visit.

In the past few months, Tsang and his delegation visited Guangxi and Hunan. He will lead another business delegation to Jiangxi early next year, according to a Hong Kong government spokesman.
