Public service continued to be the highest on Macao's list of monthly earnings in the third quarter of this year, according to official statistics issued Tuesday.

The figures from the Statistics and Census Service showed that public service topped the pay list with 15,535 patacas (1,942 U.S. dollars), followed by utility companies (12,867 patacas, 1,608 U.S. dollars and financial services (9,004, 1,126).

The manufacturing sector paid the lowest, with 3,259 patacas ( 407 U.S. dollars) per month, the figures showed.

The jobless rate stood at 3.8 percent in the July-Sept. period as against 3.7 percent in the same period of 2005, according to the statistics.
