China is on the verge of publishing a scientific encyclopedia featuring botany and zoology, according to sources with the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The encyclopedia will be a rich reference tool for the research on biological diversity, the sources said.

Eighty volumes of Chinese botanical data have already been completed, and are being translated into English.

Experts say the encyclopedia will be of special significance to the protection of national biological resources.
