CPC Senior official meets Australian guests

Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met here Wednesday with a delegation from Australian Labor Party headed by Kevin Rudd, shadow minister of foreign affairs and trade.

Liu, also member of the Political Bureau and of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said the CPC had attached importance to the relations with Australian Labor Party.

He noted the year of 2007 marks 35th anniversary of Sino-Australian relations, and the two countries should take the chance to upgrade the relationship to a new height.

Liu congratulated on the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the CPC and the Australian Labor party, saying it demonstrated the relations of the two parties is marching to a mature stage of stable development.
