Physical criteria issued for Chinese servicemen
font size

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has published "Physical Standards of Military Personnel", a physical training manual for the PLA and the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP).

The criteria have been developed on the basis of the previous standards of physical training of military personnel, which was issued in 1994.

Since 2002, the PLA headquarters has organized six military academies to conduct 15 special studies and 23 laboratory experiments, and collected more than five million items of data, so as to draw up the new standards.

In 2004, an experimental version of the new standards was distributed among PLA troops and since then it has been amended three times.
