font size

An assembly of ruling Nepali Congress (NC) party members held on Thursday in eastern Jhapa district decided to recommend Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala for Nobel Peace Award for his effort to restore peace in Nepal, state run The Rising Nepal reported on Friday.

The assembly decided to submit the proposal regarding this to diplomatic office of Sweden, a country that grants Nobel Award.

The NC cadres who participated in the assembly said that they passed the proposal for Prime Minister's leading role in reaching comprehensive peace agreement with the Communist Party of Nepal ( formerly known as guerrillas) to end 11-year long civil war.
