Macao is to adjust its economy to a multi-dimensional framework step by step, the region's economy chief said in Macao on Friday.
Francis Tam Pak Yuen, Secretary for Economy and Finance, told the conference of the region's Legislative Assembly (LA) that the goal of the government is to first usher the pillar gaming industry into a multi-dimensional development route.
Tam admitted that the region's gaming-dominated economic framework is by no means to be modified in the near future.
Tam said the gaming industry is hopefully to help boost the sectors of tourism, hotel business and retail services on the first stage.
The government is to spare no effort to support the development of the manufacture and the transportation businesses, added the official.
He also pledged that the government is to work out regulations to harness the booming gaming industry, which dedicates some 70 percent of the government tax income every year.
