Chinese President meets Pakistani parliament leaders

Chinese President Hu Jintao met Islamabad Friday with Pakistani Senate Speaker Ellahi Bakhsh Soomro and National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain.

Hu spoke highly of bilateral all-weather friendship and all- dimensional cooperation and said the Chinese side will work with the Pakistani side to continuously push forward bilateral strategic and cooperative partnership.

He said China's National People's Congress has kept sound exchanges and cooperation with the Pakistani parliament, hoping that they will further expand exchanges and make contributions to deepening bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Soomro and Hussain highly valued bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Soomro said he hoped that both sides will expand exchanges between legislatures, business communities and youth of the two countries.

Hussain said the Pakistani parliament will continue to play a positive role in the development of bilateral relations.

Hu arrived here Thursday on a state visit as Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's guest.

Pakistan is the last leg of Hu's four-nation tour, which has already taken him to Vietnam, Laos and India.

He also attended the 14th APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Economic Leaders' Meeting from Nov. 17 to 19 in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam.
