Last batch of Indonesian peacekeeping mission leaves for Lebanon

The last batch of the Indonesian peacekeeping mission left for Lebanon Saturday to join the international forces grouping in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The group of 236 soldiers of the Garuda Contingent departed from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport here aboard the American Trans Air plane at 10:00 local time.

The airport was packed with the families seeing off the soldiers, who will stay in Lebanon for 12 months.

Indonesia deploys a total of 850 soldiers, including Lt. Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the son of President Susilo Bambang yudhoyono, to join the UNIFIL. White-painted armored personnel carriers, ambulances and trucks emblazoned with the UN markings have been sent earlier this month.
