Lu Zhangong re-elected as Party boss in east China province

Lu Zhangong was re-elected secretary of the Fujian branch of the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the first plenary session of the 8th Fujian Provincial CPC Committee held on Sunday.

Huang Xiaojin and Wang Sanyun were elected deputy secretaries.

Lu, 54, a native of Cixi, in east China's Zhejiang Province, is an architecture major. He worked in Fumin People's Commune in Fujin County in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, and later taught at Heilongjiang Architecture and Engineering School.

Lu was appointed to several minor Party posts in Zhejiang and Hebei before being elected vice chairman of the All China Federation of Trade Unions in October 1998.

Lu became deputy secretary of Fujian Provincial CPC Committee in January 2001 and was promoted to the position of Fujian Party secretary in December 2004.
