The United Nations' Secretary General Kofi Annan has proposed to send an initial team of 60 specialists to Nepal before the meeting of Security Council (SC) that began Monday, local Kantipur daily reported Tuesday.
"Among them, 35 will be specialists having military experiences and the rest will be experts on political issues," the local newspaper reported quoting high-level sources at New York.
"The SC will take decision on the issue soon," the source added.
Madhu Raman Acharya, Nepali permanent ambassador to the UN, said that the Nepal issue was on high priority. "The UN can be expected to decide something about Nepal immediately as the peace process there is moving ahead in a speedy way," he added.
He also said that the concept and proposal of peace process has already been tabled in the SC. "I have also continued my bilateral talks with all SC member countries," Acharya said from New York.
