Hong Kong Post said Thursday it planned to issue a set of two Postage Prepaid Postcards on Dec. 4 to commemorate Hong Kong's hosting of Telecom World 2006.

The Postmaster General Tam Wing-pong, said Hong Kong was pleased and proud to host the event, which is the most important event of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and global telecommunication industry.

"Hongkong Post is delighted to commemorate this important milestone for Asia's world city with a unique postal product that recognizes the important role of the telecommunications industry in promoting international communications. Just as stamps and letters bring people closer together, telecommunications link up businesses and people all over the world," Tam said.

The ITU Telecom World 2006 is going to be held in Hong Kong from Dec. 4 to Dec. 8, the first time for ITU to held this event outside Geneva.
