font size

Leaving your names on the Great Wall of China after completing your tour, it's immoral and also punishable under new regulations on protecting the Great Wall which will take effect on Dec. 1, 2006, or Friday.

The regulations listed activities forbidden on the Great Wall, including taking away earth, bricks and stones from the wall, planting crops on the wall, daubing and inscription, installing facilities unrelated with Great Wall protection, driving across the wall, exhibiting articles that may damage the wall, organizing activities in off-limits sections and other activities forbidden by China's cultural relics protection law.

Violations will incur penalties as high as 50,000 yuan (about 6,410 U.S. dollars) for individuals and 500,000 yuan (about 64,100 dollars) for organizations.
