The economically booming Zhejiang Province in east China realized 112.79 billion U.S. dollars in foreign trade in the first 10 months of this year, a year-on-year growth of 28.1 percent, local custom sources said on Thursday. The trade volume exceeded the province's total external trade of 107.39 billion U.S. dollars for the whole of last year, the sources added.
The total included 82.43 billion U.S. dollars in export value, up 31.2 percent. The growth rate was 4.4 percentage points higher than the national average, ranking first in coastal regions, according to the sources.
Trade between Zhejiang and the European Union amounted 23.86 billion U.S. dollars, up 22.9 percent, and trade between the province and the United States, 20.28 billion U.S. dollars, up 32.7 percent.
Between January and October, Zhejiang sold 20.35 billion U.S. dollars worth of products to the EU, up 26.3 percent, and 18.01 billion U.S. dollars worth to the U.S., up 36.8 percent.
The top two trade partners accounted for 39.1 percent of the province's total trade or 46.5 percent of its total exports, the local customs sources said.
In the first 10 months, Zhejiang's export value of machines and electronics went up 40.8 percent to 34.3 billion U.S. dollars, or 41.6 percent of the province's total exports. The export value of new- and high-tech products increased by 76.7 percent to 8.25 billion U.S. dollars, or 10 percent of the total.
