Police killed four Taliban insurgents in Zabul province of southern Afghanistan early Sunday morning, the provincial police chief Ghulam Jilani Khan said.
"A group of Taliban militants attacked police check points in Jaldak area at 02:00 a.m. local time ((2130 GMT, Saturday). Police fought back and killed four rebels," Khan told Xinhua, adding one policeman was injured.
The Taliban is yet to make any comment.
More than 3,800 people, mostly militants, have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
