800 dead or missing in mudslides in Philippines: Red CrossAt least 800 people are either dead or missing in the mudslides caused by typhoon Durian which ravaged central Philippines on Thursday last week, said the Philippine National Red Cross on Sunday. The Red Cross said 406 are confirmed dead and 398 are still missing from the disaster which occurred in the central province of Albay. Most of the deaths took place in the villages near the Mount Mayon volcano where torrential rains brought down by super ash and stones from the slopes of the volcano, burying hundreds of people alive.
