Kuwait's Asian Games debutant shooter Naser Meqlad won the gold medal of the men's trap here at the 15th Asian Games on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Meqlad led the qualification round with 114 out of a possible 125 hits and clinched 19 in the 25-target final round, claiming the individual title after winning the team event together with his teammates.

India's Manavjit Singh Sandhu, world champion and double Asian championships winner took the silver with a total 130 hits.

"I had a problem with my contact lens in my left eye," said Sandhu. "Wind was too strong today and lens was moving a lot."

Kuwait's Khaled Almudhaf, who placed the sixth after the qualification, rallied to take the bronze medal with 128 hits, thanks to the highest 20 hits in the final.

Sandhu, the title favorite, complained about the heavy wind. " This is ridiculous. It is too windy," he said. "I have never had a problem with my contact lens.

"Strategy? How can I have a strategy in such windy conditions?" he said.
