China issues regulations to promote voluntary spirit
font size

China has issued a set of regulations on the management of volunteers to coincide with International Volunteers Day.

The regulations, issued by the Communist Youth League Central Committee, outline the volunteer registration process that should be followed by Communist youth leagues and volunteer organizations at township, county, city and provincial levels and in colleges.

Communist youth leagues and volunteer organizations will release volunteer service information and set up volunteer centers to boost volunteer work.

People over 18 years old can register as volunteers and those between 14 to 18 years old can apply after getting their supervisors' approval.

China has at least 20 million registered volunteers at present, according to the Communist Youth League Central Committee.

The volunteers serve at more than 120,000 communities across the country, helping the elderly, the disabled and others in need.
