China hopes Baradei's China visit to further strengthen bilateral cooperation
font size

China hopes the visit of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Mohamed el Baradei will further strengthen bilateral cooperation, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang.

Qin said at a regular press conference here on Tuesday that such cooperation includes peaceful use of nuclear energy and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.

Baradei is paying a visit to China from Dec. 4 to 7 at the invitation of the China Atomic Energy Authority (CAEA). During the visit, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and CAEA director Sun Qin will hold talks with Baradei.

On Tuesday, Baradei visited Qinghua University and was awarded an honorary doctor degree.

He will also visit China Institute of Atomic Energy and some laboratories there, and attend the opening ceremony of a training center jointly established by the IAEA and the CAEA.
