Kenya seeks to expand trade with China, minister
font size

Kenya is seeking greater cooperation with China in trade and telecommunications, according to visiting Kenyan Information and Communications Minister Mutahi Kagwe.

Trade between the two countries was valued at 500 million U.S. dollars last year, he said at a reception in Beijing Monday to mark the 43rd anniversary of Kenya's independence.

Exchanges between the two countries were increasingly friendly and close, with more Chinese businesses trading with Kenya, and almost 12,000 Chinese tourists visiting Kenya last year.

More than 400 representatives from the Chinese government, commerce and business organizations attended the reception.
