The Overseas Chinese World Conference for Promoting Peaceful Reunification of China 2006 (Macao) concluded in Macao Friday with the adoption of Macao Declaration, pledging utmost efforts for China's peaceful reunification.
The declaration says peace, development and mutual prosperity are the common aspiration of the compatriots across the Taiwan Straits. The principle of "One Country, Two Systems" has been proved successful in Hong Kong and Macao, and will further display its vitality in the great undertaking of China's complete reunification.
It resolutely opposes Taiwan authorities' pursuit of the " legalization" of "Taiwan independence" through the "Constitutional reform", warning that "Taiwan independence" is the greatest threat to the peace and stability not only across the Straits but also in the Asia-pacific region and the world.
It calls on all the Chinese compatriots worldwide to unite as always in fighting against secessionist forces' any attempt to separate Taiwan from China.
The two-day event, the first of its like held in China, gathered over 1,200 delegates from overseas Chinese pro-reunification organizations in some 50 countries and regions.
