A former social security official in the east China city of Nanchang has been sentenced to six years in prison for bribery and corruption, according to a local court.
Wang Mingwen, former deputy director of the Labor and Social Security Bureau of Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province, was convicted of taking bribes of 170,000 yuan (21,250 U.S. dollars) and 600 U.S. dollars and embezzling public funds of more than 60,000 yuan (7,500 U.S. dollars).
According to the local court, Wang accepted the bribes from three enterprises and departments from May 2003 to January 2006.
Wang was also found to have embezzled the funds of a service center under the bureau and a fund of the reemployment office of the bureau.
