Meng Jianzhu was reelected secretary of east China's Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Saturday.
He was reelected to the post at the first plenary session of the 12th CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee held in Nanchang.
Meng, of Han nationality and born in 1947 in Wuxian County, eastern Jiangsu province, joined the CPC in 1971.
He is a member of the 16th CPC Central Committee.
He served as a deputy secretary of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee before being appointed secretary of CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee in April 2001.
In December of the same year, he was elected to the post at the first plenary session of the 11th CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee.
Meng also heads the Standing Committee of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress, the provincial legislature.
