Singapore Airlines (SIA) has taken the delivery of new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft into its fleet, which is the third of the model and the 61th 777 to join the fleet, SIA said in a statement Tuesday.

The Airline placed a firm order for a total of 19 777-300ER aircraft in August 2004. Another 16 more will be delivered over the next two years.

Currently flying daily from Singapore to Paris and Hong Kong, the new 777-300ER aircraft will also be deployed to other major cities in Europe, Asia and the United States in due course. This new delivery will enable the commencement of services to Milan and Barcelona on Wednesday, according to the statement.

SIA now operates a total of 89 wide-body aircraft comprising 61 Boeing 777s, including 3 new 777-300ERs, 23 Boeing 747-400s, as well as 5 Airbus A340-500 ultra long-haul aircraft.
