Market capitalization in the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX) totaled 1,212 trillion rupiah (around 133.3 billion US dollars) until the mid of December, equivalent to 43.7 percent of the country's gross domestic product, an official said Tuesday.

Such a huge value was produced by 343 companies listed in the bourse, altogether own shares and bonds worth 380 trillion rupiah (41.8 billion dollars), said Fuad Rahmany, deputy chairman of the Capital Market Supervisory Agency (Bapepam).

Meanwhile, JSX president Erry Firmansyah in an interview with leading economic daily Bisnis Indonesia claimed the JSX was the world's third best performing bourse after those of Russia and China this year.

When counted from the first day of the year to Nov. 18, the composite index rose by 53.2 percent.
