By the end of September in 2006, China's overseas direct investment had grown to US$71.22 billion with more than 10,000 local enterprises established abroad. In the last five years, average overseas direct investment has increased by 66 percent annually; the number of contracted overseas projects has increased by 25 percent annually; and labor service cooperation with foreign companies has average a growth rate of 11 percent annually.
China's contribution to overseas direct investment is just 0.5 of the world's total; the value of its contracted overseas projects makes up 2.1 percent of the world's total.
