China's quality supervision departments have investigated and prosecuted over 180,000 counterfeiting cases this year, destroying fake or shoddy goods valued at 3.1 billion yuan (397 million US dollars).

At the work conference of the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (SAQSIQ) held on Tuesday, a senior official of the SAQSIQ said that the quality supervision work this year has focused on supervision over food, farming and building materials, cotton products, and protection of intellectual property rights.

The departments closed 14106 small shops making fake or shoddy food, and 143 cities have established electronic quality supervision network, according to statistics.
