He Yong, member of Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, urged the supervision groups sent to government institutions and large state owned enterprises (SOE) to strengthen combat against corruption.
He, also deputy secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, said the supervision groups at various levels should take measures to improve their efficiency to strengthen fight against corruption.
All the supervision groups are directly administered by CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Supervision Ministry, aiming to better supervise the officials and heads of large SOEs.
In 2006, these supervision groups have scored achievements in assisting government institutions and SOEs in cracking down on commercial bribery cases, he said.
Commercial bribery usually refers to bribes from companies and often involve a firm paying money to government officials for special favors.
"Officials violating the law by accepting bribes, abusing power of post, leading villainous lives and dereliction of duties should be severely punished," he stressed.
