The Ugandan government is looking for a competent firm to organize the opening session of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) slated for November 2007.
According to a statement from the foreign ministry, quoted by Daily Monitor on Wednesday, the selected firm will oversee the production of the opening ceremony gala that will last for about half an hour.
"The ceremony provides an opportunity for Uganda to showcase the best of its culture. Its content should be both relevant to CHOGM and Uganda,'' the statement said.
The opening of the biennial summit involving 54 heads of governments of former British colonies headed by the Queen of England will be televised live across the world.
According to the statement, the aim of the gala is to create a pleasant memorable experience of Uganda for CHOGM delegates and the world at large.
The Ugandan government planned to spend some 70 million U.S. dollars on hosting the summit that will see over 10,000 delegates visiting the East African country in a week.
