Two men jailed for counterfeiting Chinese currency
font size

Two men have been jailed for counterfeiting 350,000 yuan (44,800 U.S. dollars) in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

At Guiping City People's Court, Zheng Shuhai was sentenced to 14 years in jail and fined 100,000 yuan. His accomplice, Li Weiqi, was jailed for 13 years and fined 80,000 yuan.

Both men are from Guiping City.

The court found that Li asked Zheng to counterfeit 350,000 yuan in 100-yuan notes in March this year. Li promised to pay Zheng 0.2 yuan processing fees for each note.

Zheng handed the forged notes to Li on March 24. Police arrested Li when he attempted to sell the notes outside Guiping City the same day.

Police also seized 251,100 yuan of crudely faked RMB notes and counterfeiting equipment at Zheng's home the same day.
