Indian trade deficit rises to 36 billion U.S. dollars
font size

India's trade deficit stood at 36.04 billion U.S. dollars in the first eight months of this fiscal year which will end in March next year.

India recorded a trade deficit of 27.64 billion U.S. dollars in the same period last year.

The trade deficit is not a concern as exports are growing well and inflow of foreign exchange is keeping the deficit in control, said Indian Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said here Thursday.

"Indian can live with current account deficit and trade deficit is not a cause of worry anymore," Chidambaram said on the sidelines of a meeting on export promotion.
