Senior Chinese advisor meets former French foreign minister

Liu Yandong, vice chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top advisory body, met here Wednesday with former French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier.

Liu is also a senior official of the Communist Party of China while Barnier, a leader of the Union for a Popular Movement. The two exchanged views on relations between the two countries and the two political parties and other issues of common concern.

Barnier was invited by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for a visit here from Dec. 19 to 22.
