font size

Indonesia has set a target to become the world's third largest pulp producer within three years, an official said Friday.

With annual pulp production of 1.9 million tons, Indonesia currently ranks ninth in the world.

"We hope that we will be able to lift national pulp production to more than 2.3 million tons in the next three years," Forestry Minister Malam Sambat Kaban told reporters.

He said the three largest pulp producers included Brazil, China and Finland.
