Visitor arrivals in Singapore up 1.7 pct in NovemberA total of 800,000 visitors arrived in Singapore in November this year, moderately up 1.7 percent year-on-year after a 15 percent increase in October, according to the figures released by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) on Friday. Visitor days were estimated to reach 2.7 million, an increase of 4.8 percent in comparison to November last year. Indonesia, which contributed 137,000 visitors to Singapore in November, still ranked first among the city-state's top five visitor-generating markets for the month, followed by China (88, 000), Malaysia (56,000), Japan (52,000) and India (51,000). These five markets accounted for 48 percent of total visitor arrivals for the month. Hotels in Singapore were estimated to register 145.8 million Singapore dollars (about 94.7 million U.S. dollars) in room revenue in November, up 29.8 percent as compared with the corresponding month of last year. The average room rate (ARR) was estimated at 176 Singapore dollars (about 114 U.S. dollars), an increase of 21.3 percent over November 2005.
