Eurovet, the France-based leading lingerie trade show organizer in the world, will launch two bodyfashion shows in China next year, with one in Hong Kong in April and another in Shanghai in October.

"Asia and China represents a huge and growing consumption market, including lingerie and beachwear," said Eurovet CEO Marie Laure Bellon-Homps at a press conference here.

The region has witnessed 15 percent average growth in lingerie consumption on an annual basis, while the turnover of lingerie market in China reached two billion euros in 2004, according to Eurovet.

"Though lingerie sales in China are still lower than in Europe and the U.S., the market is growing fast," she said.

Eurovet held a bodyfashion show in Shanghai in October this year, attracting more than 4,000 well-targeted visitors from all around the world, with 54 percent coming for fabrics sourcing, 34 percent finding and distributing brands and 12 percent finding new production partners,

"The Shanghai Mode Lingerie is a real success," she said, noting that 60 percent of the exhibitors and 90 percent of the visitors to the Shanghai show had expressed strong interest to participating in the Hong Kong show in April.

The Hong Kong Mode Lingerie will be an international specialized platform, targeting manufacturers, retailer, distributors and investors from Asia and other parts of the world, she said.

The Hong Kong show will focus on the winter collections while the Shanghai one will unveil the summer collections, she said.
