A suspect was captured Sunday morning in southeast China's coastal province of Fujian on charges of killing two persons when robbing a cash carrying vehicle in Putian city Saturday afternoon, local police said.
Zheng Hongbin, 35, was seized at about 5 a.m. at a restaurant in Shishi City, Fujian, a spokesman with the Putian Municipal Public Security Bureau said.
Police also captured a baton gun, six bullets and 230,000 yuan (28,750 U.S. dollars) in cash.
Zheng is from the Hanjiang District of Putian City and works for a local security guards company, police said.
The robbery occurred in the Liyuan Road of Putian at around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, when Zheng, a guard for the cash carrying vehicle, shot the driver surnamed Lin dead with a baton gun and struck down another guard surnamed Wu, police said. Zheng fled after the robbery.
Wu died at a local hospital after an emergency operation failed, police said.
The case is under further investigation, police said.
