China's top advisor stresses cross-Straits cultural links

China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin Sunday urged to promote cultural exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), encouraged to strengthen the research, exchanges and services in the field of cross-Straits cultural development

During an inspection tour to southeast China's coastal province of Fujian from Dec. 22 to 24, Jia said the province is playing an important role in the economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Straits.

He said the legitimate rights and interests of Taiwan compatriots on the mainland should be well protected, noting the investment environment should be further improved to attract more Taiwan investors.

The province should offer more assistance and services to the Taiwan businessmen who are doing business and investing in the province, he added.
