Kuwait denied that its refined oil output had been affected by the maintenance operations in a major oil refinery, local daily Kuwait Times reported on Tuesday.
Though the al-Ahmadi refinery, one of the three major refineries in Kuwait, halted some new project units from Nov. 27 due to regular maintenance, Kuwait's refinery capacity was not affected, the report quoted Muhammad al-Ajami, chief of foreign relations and information at the Kuwait National Petroleum Company, as saying.
He added that the refinery has resumed normal operations since the maintenance operation had been finished on Monday.
The three-phase maintenance operations which cost about 8.8 million U.S. dollars would be carried out every three years, explained the official.
Kuwait now has a combined production capacity of 200,000 barrels of refined oil per day.
