Car production and sales exceed 7 million
font size

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers has confirmed that between January and November this year, the production and sale of Chinese cars increased by 27.9 percent and 25.5 percent respectively from last year. It is presumed production and sale of cars will exceed 7 million by December.

This year, the Chinese car industry has experienced high growth. Demand for cars has once again risen; car imports, which had stagnated, are again growing rapidly; and exports of Chinese cars have grown for the fourth consecutive year, sales of which make up 11 percent of the global total.

Due to the expansion of the car market, sales of Chinese cars will reach 7 million this year. The market will overtake Japan as the second largest in the world.

The market for imported cars in China has also grown significantly after a lackluster three-year performance. The number of imported cars sold increased by 28 percent in the third quarter. The main reason for this is that the market demand structure for imported cars is changing. Customers buying sedans are now beginning to show an interest in SUVs, and sales of top-of-the-range SUVs now represent 40 percent of sales of imported cars.

The number of exported Chinese vehicles has doubled every year since China joined the WTO. China is expected to export 350,000 cars this year, indicating the strength and robust growth of China's automobile industry.
