The Indonesian government claimed Thursday revenues from energy sector rose by 42.17 percent thanks to soaring global oil prices over the last two years.
The revenues rose to 220.88 trillion rupiah (around 24.3 billion U.S. dollars) in 2006 from 155.36 trillion rupiah (17.1 billion dollars) in the previous year, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro told a press conference here.
"Oil production fails to meet target in 2006, accounting for only 93 percent of the targeted 1.05 million barrels per day as set in the state budget," he said. "But oil price rises have lifted revenues."
The revenues generated by oil stood at 130.8 trillion rupiah in 2006, against 82.73 trillion rupiah in 2005, and the revenues from gas sector amounted to 61.96 trillion rupiah this year, compared with 54.94 trillion rupiah in 2005.
