Military urged to contribute more to social harmony
font size

The Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has urged the armed forces to make greater contributions to the building of a harmonious socialist society and firmly safeguard the country.

According to a guideline approved by Hu Jintao, Chairman of the CMC, the military must practice the Communique of the Sixth Plenum of the 16th Central Committee of the CPC, issued on Oct. 11.

The armed forces must follow the absolute leadership of the Party and maintain a close relationship with the people, says the guideline.

They should also improve its capability in safeguarding national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while strengthening ties with lower ranks in terms of boosting democracy and giving more care.

The leadership of the Party committees in the military must be enhanced with the priority of fulfilling responsibility and improving combat capability, the guideline states.
