font size

An American soldier was killed and three others wounded in a roadside bomb attack in Baghdad on Friday, the U.S. military said in a statement on Saturday.

The blast hit a Multi-national Division - Baghdad patrol in southwestern Baghdad, the military said in the statement.

"The unit was conducting battlefield circulation when a roadside bomb exploded near them," the statement added.

Earlier, the military said that five of its soldiers were killed and two others wounded in Baghdad and western Anbar province.

The latest deaths bring the toll of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since March 2003 to more than 2,985.
