Basque nationalist party Batasuna demanded on Monday that suffering on both sides of Spain's political conflict be recognized before peace could be achieved.
It is necessary to recognize the full extent of the suffering on both sides to solve the conflict, said Batasuna, the political wing of Basque separatist group ETA.
The ETA had claimed responsibility for the weekend car bombing at Madrid airport.
Batasuna called for recognition of fault on all sides in efforts to set a foundation for peace.
"The foundation should be established for the disappearance of all violence to reach a solution in democratic terms to political problems," it said.
The car bombing in Madrid on Saturday shattered a nine-month-long ceasefire between Basque separatists and the Spanish government. The bombing left two men missing and injured 26 people.
Batasuna, which seeks full independence of the Basque region straddling the Spanish-French border and is linked to the ETA, was outlawed by the government in 2002.
